A few days had gone by and Boomer was living out of a suitcase that he slid underneath Miyako’s bed to keep it out of the way. The tension in the living room could have been cut by a knife, Miyako’s grandmother sat on the couch across from Miyako and Boomer. Her expression was nearly unreadable, she’d set down her cup of tea a few minutes before when they had told her of what was going on. Boomer’s heart was trying to rip itself out of his chest. He was more than afraid of her final verdict. Miyako was much worse for wear. Miyako hadn’t left her bed much for the past few days. Her head was pounding; her stomach refused any and everything. And on top of that she had three projects she had to finish. She fought to get to her desk everything taking a hundred times more effort. She had barely started when she looked at the clock. This clock didn’t just tell the time it had the full date ticking by at the bottom as well. She stared at the clock for a while before her head put two and two together, one it was the thirteenth two she was almost a week late.
